I greatly appreciate your support regarding the proposal for regional network of JICA Alumni Association. Many of the JICA Alumni Associations are located in South American countries and I think it would be a great idea if we work on the idea simultaneously. Since I have been contacting other alumni associations, it has transpired that this idea is not new. Such a regional forum is already working among south east asian countries. This year they are going to have their meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Here in Pakistan, we organize a variety of activities e.g. study visits, seminars, home stay programme for Japanese Volunteers, awareness activities, etc. We also hold activities of special interest like music programmes, origami, cooking, painting and ikebana workshops, and special days. Besides, we have a special focus on public welfare activities. We hold Free Medical Camps in villages where government healthcare facilities are not available. A couple of years back, we vaccinated all members and their families for 3 doses of Hepatitis B. We have a large executive committee where members are encouraged to come up with novel ideas and we try to diversify our activities as much as possible.
Our founder President, Prof. K. A. Abbas, is a leading paediatrician and he lays special emphasis on health related activities. I shall be grateful if you could send us the record of congress on child abuse. We would surely like to hold some activity on this subject. We would be more than happy to share our experiences and to join hands in activities of common interest.
With best regards and wishes
Yours sincerely
